On February 25, 2011 Prince William and his bride to be, Catherine "Kate" Middleton, visited St. Andrews University in Scotland, where they first met as students. They were welcomed by crowds and honored with a flypast of three RAF fighter jets. They viewed a papal bull issued at the founding of the university in 1411, and Prince William unveiled a plaque to launch the school's 600th anniversary celebrations.
