December 31, 2002 - Added books about Elizabeth I, Royal Genealogy, and India. Updated the Royal News page.

The featured Novel of the Month for January is Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman. This novel tells the true story of a 13th century Welsh prince who married the daughter of his enemy King John of England. I read this recently, and I could hardly put it down. It's the first book in a trilogy; the other two books are Falls the Shadow, about England's King Henry III, and The Reckoning, about Edward I's conquest of Wales.

The Novel of the Month for December is The October Horse by Colleen McCullough. Written by the author of The Thorn Birds and other bestsellers, this book tells the story of Caesar, Cleopatra, and the fall of the Roman republic.

The featured Novel of the Month for October is A Rose for Virtue by Norah Lofts, about Napoleon Bonaparte's stepdaughter Hortense. It's out of print, but available from Alibris.

The featured book of the week is Queen Salote of Tonga: The Story of an Era 1900-1965 by Elizabeth Wood-Ellem. Salote, who ruled for over 40 years, was the mother of Tonga's current king.
